The Kings eliminated the Golden State Warriors from the postseason race yesterday. Many speculated that the ear, which ruled for nearly ten years, may have ended with this.
After the heartbreaking 94-118 loss, Skip Bayless brought up the subject on his UNDISPUTED show and blasted Draymond Green and Klay Thompson for being the Warriors’ early season losers.
Prior to criticizing the Warriors, Bayless praised the Kings for their outstanding performance. He claimed that the Kings managed to pull off this crucial victory over the Warriors in spite of the absence of a few players from the team.
Keon Ellis, the team’s trump card, was also valued by Bayless because he was instrumental in preventing the Warriors from winning.
Regarding the losing team, the seasoned media member expressed his dissatisfaction with how they were unable to even mount a respectable defense against the Kings.
Bayless expressed his disappointment in Klay, saying that he thinks the player is one of the best shooters in league history. The star player for the Warriors was utterly useless in his 32 minutes of action, failing to score a single point. According to Bayless:
“Steph can only carry you so far when he is 6 feet 3 inches tall, I mean there’s only so much that you can do.”
Steph was let down by his teammates once more, according to Bayless, and he got little to no support from anyone when he tried to fight back.
The 72-year-old pointed the finger at Green for the defeat as well, suggesting that the Warriors star’s lackluster play may have something to do with his advanced age.
While the team as a whole put on a dismal show, it seems sense that Klay’s performance has everyone in a panic.
He missed all six of his three-point attempts and shot 0 of 10 from the field. In 32 minutes, all he managed to record was one assist and four rebounds.
Was this the Warriors Big 3’s last stand?
It will be a mark on Klay Thompson’s career deserving of induction into the Hall of Fame if this was the final occasion the public saw him wearing a Warriors uniform. Prior to the tipoff, in conversation with the reporters.
He said: “I’ve had so much success here, I’m not going to let whatever the future happens make me salty about everything I’ve accomplished in a Warriors jersey. I don’t let that seep in at all.”
The only one who can honestly say whether or not it affected his playing is him. However, based on what we seen on the court, he didn’t resemble the Klay that the Dub Nation adores.
There is still optimism that Klay could play for the Warriors again despite a dismal finish to the campaign. Steph, Draymond, and coach Kerr declared their desire to retain their enduring partner on the team following the game.
According to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, Kerr said, “We need Klay back. He’s still got good years left. And I know I speak for everybody in the organization. We want him back.” The two teammates also vouched for Klay’s presence in the team moving forward with Draymond stating that Klay’s departure can never be in the organization’s interest.
