Grizzlies’ Ja Morant makes major career move amid lost season

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, star guard Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies has chosen to separate ways with his longtime representative, Jim Tanner of Tandem Sports + Entertainment. Tanner also represents other prominent players in the league, like as Cam Thomas, Jarrett Allen, and Desmond Bane, who plays with Murray.

Morant has experienced a lot over the past year, and he is presently recuperating from surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Morant missed the first 25 games of the 2023–24 season as a result of a second suspension he received from Adam Silver and the league office following his first suspension for flashing a gun on a live video in March 2023. After his comeback, the club did begin to turn things around, but then Morant sustained his season-ending shoulder injury.

Given that Morant has had the same agency for each of his five NBA seasons, his choice to split ways with them is noteworthy. As he moves into Year 2 of a five-year, $197 million contract extension that he signed in 2022, the 24-year-old will now be looking for fresh direction.
Throughout his career, Morant has been the Grizzlies’ face; yet, in the aftermath of the recent turmoil surrounding the young player, this role has appeared to wane a little. Nevertheless, he has a long-term contract with Memphis and will be the center of their future strategy.
