In Game 2, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers after an amazing 20-point comeback on Monday night.
The Nuggets have now defeated the Lakers ten times in a row, going all the way back to the Western Conference Finals of the previous season, after taking a 2-0 series lead to Los Angeles.
While Jamal Murray will undoubtedly receive the most attention from this game after making the game-winning jumper over Anthony Davis after having trouble shooting the ball for the majority of the game, star teammate Nikola Jokic’s performance created NBA history.
Jokic finished with a career-high 27 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, and 2 steals, making NBA history as the first player to record that kind of performance in a playoff game.
Jokic tied Wilt Chamberlain for the most points, rebounds, and assists in an NBA playoff game with his fourth straight (per Basketball Reference’s StatHead).
After playing as well as they did for the majority of the evening, the Lakers suffer a devastating defeat.
Unfortunately, Los Angeles was just outplayed in the game’s most important moments, and this game ended in a manner similar to many of their previous losses to Denver.
Murray, as previously stated, had a difficult night for the most part but made some crucial baskets in the closing moments, including the game-winning buzzer beater against Anthony Davis.
