The unique automobile owned by Formula One star Ayrton Senna is being offered for a staggering £500,000 on Auto Trader.
Following a period of dominance in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the former three-time world champion is acknowledged as one of the best athletes of all time.
Nearly thirty years after Senna’s untimely death during the San Marino Grand Prix in May 1994, his car is again available to enthusiasts.
With just 39,100 kilometers on it, the Brazilian’s Honda NSX is for sale and listed for half a million pounds on the UK car marketplace Auto Trader.
Robert McFagan, an East Sussex resident, is the car’s owner, and it looks like he is prepared to cash in on the renowned vehicle.
Senna kept the vehicle at his Portugal residence, where he could use it anytime he visited.
Senna did a wheel spin in the film “Racing is in my Blood,” which also featured the motor.
“I bought the car in 2013 during a trip to the Algarve in Portugal and have owned it ever since, where it has sat proudly at my estate in East Sussex,” stated McFagan, the current owner.
“Senna received his red NSX from Honda, with whom he had a business relationship. Senna used the vehicle regularly and was pictured with it when visiting Portugal.
Being a major Senna enthusiast, I was thrilled to get my hands on the NSX, which was expertly built and has a sleek, potent engine that provides an amazing driving experience.
“Owning one of the most iconic vehicles belonging to a genuine sporting icon has been a true pleasure, and the rush of operating Senna’s car never fades.”
“As the UK’s largest automotive marketplace for used and new cars, we sell approximately 450 000 vehicles every day of various sizes, styles, and price points and we often see cars once owned by celebrities to royalty being listed on our site,” said Erin Baker, editorial director of Auto Trader.
“Senna’s iconic Honda NSX is a chance to own a rare piece of sporting history that will no doubt turn heads and spark conversations among friends, family, and neighbors. Senna’s impact on Formula 1 and the world of motorsport was immeasurable.”
