In Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets in a sad fashion. Anthony Davis gave the Lakers a hazy jab because it was terrible enough.
Following Game 2, Davis remarked, “There are moments when we just don’t know what we’re doing on both ends of the floor.” “Those are the ones that cost us.”
Though very daring, Davis’s words were also tinged with resentment. That’s the kind of thing that might really put a coaching staff coach out of a job. Though he disagreed with Davis, Ham gave his big man the benefit of the doubt when questioned about his comments made before to Game 3.
“I just think sometimes plays don’t turn out the way you think they should,” Ham stated. “Frustration starts to creep in. However, I don’t believe that’s because we’re disorganized. I believe that every coach on my staff is extremely gifted, and we take great satisfaction in our ability to organize practices, shootarounds, games, and other events with extreme efficiency. I would simply attribute that to frustration because, as you can imagine, the game’s conclusion was quite emotional. On that one, though, I’ll concede to disagree.”
Even if Game 3 isn’t the Lakers’ final opportunity to play the Denver Nuggets, losing 3-0 against the defending champions would be fatal. The conflict between Anthony Davis and Darvin Ham is a result of their frustration and desperation.
