Ja Morant’s 2023–24 season with the Grizzlies was difficult. owing to a shoulder injury and missing 25 games owing to suspension, he was sidelined for the majority of the season. However, Morant is changing significantly. Following his separation from former NBA agent Jim Tanner, Morant has joined Mike Miller, a legend in Memphis.
Lift Sports Management announced on their X account that Morant is joining them. According to the agency’s website, former Grizzlies player and NBA champion Mike Miller founded Lift as a full-service sports management company to assist athletes in succeeding in their personal, professional, and on-court endeavors.
Lift is the agent of numerous NBA and WNBA players. Among them are Sydney Colson, Didi Richards, Wendell Carter Jr., Paolo Banchero, and Patrick Beverley. Another well-known client is Tyus Jones, the former guard for the Grizzlies.
Ja Morant’s transfer to Lift is a significant step that will hopefully enable him to get closer to his objectives.
Getting healthy has been one of Morant’s top focuses over the summer. Early in January, the star guard had a right shoulder subluxation that prevented him from playing for the remainder of the 2023–24 campaign. After serving his early-season ban, Morant had returned to Memphis and was leading the team to new heights.
In nine games, the guard for the Grizzlies averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 47.1 percent shooting from the field. In Week 9 of the NBA season, he was named Western Conference Player of the Week for his accomplishments.
For the Grizzlies, Morant is a real game-changer, and if he returns healthy, the team should be able to contend again in the Western Conference. Seeing how the team handles the roster leading up to the 2024 offseason will be interesting. In any case, some notable contributors will be coming back.
Grizzlies star Ja Morant hopes to return to the top in 2024–2025.
With a 27–55 record at the end of the 2023–24 season, the Grizzlies were ranked 13th in the Western Conference. Their performance was a sharp contrast to their 51-31 record and second-seed in the West of the NBA Playoffs from the previous season.
Of course, given the ridiculous amount of injuries Memphis sustained, their poor season must be treated with a grain of salt. Along with Ja Morant, a number of other players were also sidelined by injuries, including Marcus Smart, Derrick Rose, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., Zaire Williams, and many others.
Nearly every player on the Grizzlies squad had a medical condition that kept them from playing. However, once the club is healthy, the Western Conference might have a problem.
