Rapper Moneybagg Yo recently shared an exchange he had with Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant after the NBA player got in controversy once more for brandishing a gun on Instagram Live.
The 23-year-old Jared Morant and the rapper from Memphis are buddies, and the two have been spotted together at Grizzlies games, sitting courtside.
In an interview with Complex, the 31-year-old rapper stated that he thinks Morant is going through a period and will “snap out” of this behavior.
“He is 23 years old. It seems to be a passing fad, in Moneybagg Yo’s opinion. “I was just doing stuff when I was 23 and 24 years old, and people had to tell me that I needed to bump my head and that God needed to [teach me a lesson].” I’m happy to have survived those circumstances. Certain scenarios even cause some people to not even flinch.
“But, I feel like Ja probably don’t even know, like, what it is right now, like he probably don’t even believe this is life, you have those stages.”
Rapper Ja Morant says he’ll get it right.
After the first occurrence, Morant momentarily sought counseling; after the second error, he apologized. According to Moneybagg Yo, Ja promised him he would “get it right” this time.
“Ja is going to get over this, and I naturally gave him some words of encouragement. “I got you, big bro, I appreciate that,” he said. “I’m going to do it correctly,” the rapper declared.
Shortly after the second video, Morant was suspended from all Grizzlies operations, and the NBA is currently looking into the incident.
Since his initial video at a Denver strip club earned him an eight-game suspension, many feel that two times as many is appropriate.
