It is unclear if Klay Thompson, a veteran of the Warriors, would re-sign with Golden State or take his skills to another team when he hits NBA free agency next month.
There are a lot of questions surrounding Thompson’s potential suitors, including the Orlando Magic, but the coach who picked him recently revealed the kind of deal Dub Nation might anticipate from the Splash Brother.
In an interview with the “Gil’s Arena” podcast, former Warriors coach Mark Jackson stated, “I’m giving him $20–$25 [million per season].” “I still believe he has a lot left in the tank, especially considering the other players in the league who are getting that type of money. Guys that possess the same shooting form as his tend to be considerably more durable. ..
“Due to his presence and capacity to block shots, he will remain relevant on the floor. He still has a lot of energy, in my opinion.
The four-time NBA champion is expected to play as a sixth man going forward, as the Warriors have made it obvious that they want to bring Thompson back. Even though Thompson has expressed a wish to rejoin the Golden State Warriors, his position and pay will undoubtedly play a significant role.
Thompson inked a five-year, $190 million contract in 2019 and earned $43.2 million in the 2023–24 NBA season. In 77 games, he averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on 43.2 percent shooting from the field and 38.7 percent from 3-point range. Despite some ups and downs, he finished the season with consistent numbers, joining teammate Steph Curry as the only players to make more than 250 3-pointers in each of the previous two seasons.
