At the NBA Draft Combine, Bronny James is making an impression on evaluators and seems like an NBA prospect who can be selected based more on his skill set than his last name. Bronny stated quite frankly that he has never dreamed of playing with LeBron James and that he wants to stay in the NBA even if it means not being on the Lakers.
“Never, never. As is the ultimate goal for everybody who come here, my dream has always been to just put my name out there, establish a reputation for myself, and get into the NBA. My dad has obviously brought it up a few times, but I never considered just playing with him. However, I don’t give it any thought.
Bronny reiterated his earlier statement that he is not currently focused on joining his father’s team.
“I don’t think it would be just like me and my dad when I get there.” Getting into the league would make me pleased more than considering playing beside my dad. That’s not at all how I’m thinking right now. All I’m trying to do is work hard and see where it leads me.
Despite his father’s possible free agency, Bronny is drawing interest from teams in the draft, and according to Brian Windhorst, it is highly improbable that LeBron will follow Bronny blindly to a franchise. Rather, the Lakers were setting up to select Bronny with a second-round selection.
The Lakers may need to be more aggressive to lock down Bronny on choose night if his stock keeps rising and a team believes that LeBron might still follow him if they choose him.
Bronny James Making An Impressive Show at The CombineAfter a dismal freshman season with the USC Trojans, Bronny James was not regarded as one of the top 60 prospects in the weak class when he entered the NBA Draft Combine. However, the 19-year-old point guard’s stock will be climbing after meeting Bronny at the Combine.
While he hasn’t produced many stats in the Combine scrimmage games today, James has impressed scouts with his strength and defensive prowess, centering his play toward winning plays.
James’ height has been mentioned as a reason for concern, despite the fact that his official Combine measurements are extremely encouraging.
6’1.50″ is the height (without shoes).
210.4 pounds in weight
Spread of wings: 6’7.25″
Height of jump: 40.5 inches
Vertical standing: thirty-two inches
Reach when standing: 8’2.50″
Bronny made an impression during the shooting drills, sinking 19 of 25 shots in the 3-point drill to establish himself as the second-best set shooter in the Draft.
There has been no discernible progress in the first two days about Bronny’s potential placement on the Draft board. It was never expected that he would go undrafted, but even though he made it very obvious that the Lakers are not his top goal, he will probably walk on stage on June 26 and sign with some random NBA team if teams are impressed by him throughout the pre-draft process.
