According to DailyMail.com exclusively, Bronny James hasn’t done enough to impress scouts at this week’s NBA Combine to get selected.
In case he decides to enter the draft, LeBron James’ kid has been working out for NBA talent spotters in Chicago all this week.
Despite being listed by Southern California as 6-4, James’ vertical leap was tested at 40 1/2 inches, and his height, without shoes, was measured at 6-foot-1 1/2. On Tuesday, he participated in a scrimmage.
On Wednesday, Bronny’s well-known father attended to watch him play. During Bronny’s second and last scrimmage of the combine, LeBron walked up wearing a black hoodie and sat in the second row.
On April 5, Bronny registered for the draft and went via the transfer site. He will have to make a decision later this month over whether to play one more year in college or turn pro.
However, it appears that scouts from the NBA may have taken that choice away from him following his lackluster efforts this week.
“Bronny is a very nice guy, and while he has been at the NBA Draft Combine, the general consensus is that he has a lot of work to do to get drafted,” an anonymous source told DailyMail.com.
“To play elite basketball, you don’t need to be nice.” He still has a lot of work ahead of him, and a lot of scouts believe he lacks experience and needs more seasoning. The majority of them believe he should stay in college to give himself the best shot possible.
Scouts believe he hasn’t demonstrated enough to be a player in the NBA.
Currently, the only chance he has of being selected in the NBA draft is if the team selecting him is aware that doing so may help them land his father as well.
LeBron would need to be involved in the situation because most scouts don’t buy into Bronny’s self-proclaimed brilliance.
LeBron has expressed his desire to play in the NBA with his son on multiple occasions.
After finishing his 21st season, the four-time MVP and four-time NBA champion has the option to opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and become a free agent.
However, he also admitted that he hasn’t “given much thought lately” to playing with his kid after the team’s season-ending loss to Denver.
“The young man must choose what he wants to do; I don’t want to say kid no more.” The child must do what he wants to do. “I find it really cool that we’re even having this conversation,” he remarked at the time.
Bronny stated that his objective is to make it to the NBA, not necessarily to join LeBron’s squad.
“I’ve always just wanted to get my name out there, establish myself, and, of course, play in the NBA,” he stated. I never considered playing with my father. Naturally, though, he has brought it up a few times.
Bronny disclosed on Wednesday that he is still “lingering” on the heart attack he had last year.
After his health scare, the 19-year-old, who is unlikely to play for the USC Trojans again this summer, said he talked with his parents the idea that he might not be able to play again.
James added, “I think a big part of it was my parents believing in me and giving me the love and affection that I needed at that time.” I still consider all of the possible outcomes. I just have an overwhelming love for the game.
James played in 25 games for the Trojans, averaging 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists despite missing the opening month of the campaign.
When speaking of his time away from the game and return, James remarked, “It’s just a great thing to happen to me, in terms of just being grateful for everything.”
I think I’ve earned the chance because I worked hard and did other things to get back. I am incredibly appreciative of all that has been bestowed upon me.
Representatives of the James family have been approached by DailyMail.com for comment.
