It’s been a huge few weeks in the James home, as the Los Angeles Lakers created history by picking Bronny James, who will join LeBron James as the first father-son combo to ever play for the same team. 

With LeBron James having one of the most successful Nike Basketball signature lines in the company’s history, is there any chance Bronny will follow in his father’s footsteps and join Nike? For the time being, we’ll stick to what we know, as another Nike LeBron 21 colorway is set to release soon.

The Nike LeBron 21 will soon be replaced by the upcoming Nike LeBron 22, which LeBron James has previously hinted on social media. Still, additional hues of the iconic Nike LeBron 21 will be released throughout the summer. This next colorway pays respect to LeBron James’ grandmother, who raised him, as well as the familiar material that we’ve all seen on our grandparents’ furniture.

The “Grandma’s Couch” two-shoe pack will be distributed concurrently in the next weeks of June.

We witness the first looks of two opposing hues functioning under the same flowery stitched upholstery motif. The initial colorway is light mint green with a sail midsole. The embroidered designs are done in brilliant pinks and greens, with very accurate stitching and detailing on the uppers. The Nike Swooshes are done in the same cream as the midsole, while the outsole is finished in pink.

The second pair is darker, with a predominantly navy blue base and a gum outsole. This pair has the same green texturing as the first pair, but with darker red roses for a contrasting effect. The Nike Swoosh and LeBron emblems are done in “Green Strike,” which adds to the shoe’s floral appeal. The last detail, uniform for both shoes, is a pair of prayer hands with LeBron’s Championship rings on the insoles.

Overall, both sneakers look terrific, and it’s nice to see a new combination of materials added to the Nike LeBron 21. These will surely stand out on the court, and they serve as a reminder to cherish our grandmothers while we still have them.

The Nike LeBron 21 “Grandma’s Couch” is planned to release on July 12, 2024, with an official launch via the Nike SNKRS app and at select Nike shops. The price is set at $225, which places these on the pricier end of basketball sneakers due to their superior materials.
